The 2014 @LU_SPAD Hockey Tournament is back!

SPAD HOCKEY #2Tomorrow, Wednesday January 22nd, 2014, marks the start of the 2014 SPAD Hockey Tournament! Everyone’s favourite time of year is finally back!

This years tournament will be very different from tournaments of the past because of some major changes that have been made this year. This years tournament will be played entirely out of Countryside Arena, with  both the mixed and competitive divisions competing there. Organizers hope this will help to create a great atmosphere around the tournament. This year’s tournament consists of a 6-team competitive division, as well as a 16-team mixed division. The tournament is scheduled over the next four days, concluding on Friday with such events as:

  • The Red Bull Top Shelf Shootout
  • The Professor Staff Game
  • The Championships
  • The Official SPAD Hockey Tournament After-Party

Both divisions look to be very competitive with many familiar faces returning to the tournament, as well as a bunch of brand new talent looking to make their mark on the tournament. The schedule, rosters, up-to-date standings, pictures and much more can be found on the official tournament website at www.spadhockey.com.

Many extra events have been built around this tournament, including the newly created games room. In the observatory room above the ice pads, tournament organizers have created a games room that includes an NHL 14 Tournament on both XBOX 360 and PS3. This room gives athletes and spectators optimal viewing of both ice pads, while allowing them a comfortable environment to rest and compete in the NHL 14 Tournament.

Make sure to come out and support the teams competing in the tournament and check out some great hockey! There will also be a raffle table so be sure to come check out the great prizes that are available to win this year! To all of the players competing in the tournament, have fun and good luck from us here at the SPAD Blog!
