The Olympic Cauldron

Things are incredibly busy down here at the Polyclinic in the Vancouver Village, but I can contribute a few of my experiences so far.

As the Asst. Medical Materials Manager, my role is to make sure that all of the Medical Stations (athlete and spectator) at every venue have all the MED supplies necessary. The type of supplies and pharmaceuticals differ from venue to venue, because of the possible injuries that could happen at each.

For example, there would be a high risk of burns at the Whistler sliding centre, while lacerations are more common during Short Track speed skating.
The relationship between the nature of the sport and the Medical
requirements is quite interesting, and has allowed me to visit all of the Olympic Venues. I have attached a few pictures from the past few days too!
The city is one enormous celebration. I have seen people riding down the Granville st. in spandex on wooden toboggans, and everyone is decked out in red. The world has come to Vancouver, and the city couldn’t be more full of energy.
