Annual @LU_SPAD Blue Jays Game

By SPAD Blogger Kelly Turner

realsportsOn August 10th, 2013, nearly 60 @LU_SPAD students made their way down to the Rogers Centre for the annual SPAD Blue Jays game event. The sun was shining and the roof was open for a great afternoon of baseball between the Blue Jays and visiting Oakland Athletics. The game was a great occasion for students to catch up with fellow classmates and get set for another great year in the program. Moreover, some of the incoming frosh class made it out to the ballpark to get a taste of what the SPAD experience is all about. One of the game’s highlights was having SPAD featured on the stadium scoreboard!  Fortunately, the game was very entertaining, with the Jays ultimately winning the contest 5-4.

The festivities did not end there as a number of students made their way down the road to Real Sports, North America’s premiere sports bar as voted on by ESPN. Students capped off the day by sharing some laughs over dinner and drinks; a great day for all in attendance!

Current Student Council President, Sean Meyers, was pleased with the great turn out and had this to share about the afternoon: “It was great to see such a large turnout of SPAD students at the game. It was a good way to kickoff the year, and is only the beginning of what is sure to be a fantastic year!”

The SPAD Blue Jays game is always a great event for students and definitely has everyone eager to get back up to Sudbury for another great year in the program. SPAD Council hopes to see this year’s turnout topped in 2014!
